I was delighted recently to notice that one of my pieces, a bowl I'd engraved for my mum, has been included in an online exhibition, on the Guild of Glass Engravers website. For this piece, I sketched various bits of coral, underwater rock arches, seabed plants, fish (including a large lionfish) and shell creatures. I then copied these onto the medium sized bowl, arranging them together to create a complete underwater scene. The exhibition can be found here: Guild of Glass Engravers (gge.org.uk)
Thank you for your lengthy service to this country ma’am. Your work is done, may you now rest in peace with Philip.
I was delighted in December to be asked to engrave a bowl for Amanda Burton, on the completion of filming "Silent Witness" series 25; which was presented to her in January. I have also now started posting photos of completed work, along with cards I've made, on my instagram account: victoriagolby
I was lucky enough to be invited to have a small stall at the village WI Christmas Craft Fayre at the weekend. It was great to get out and showcase my work again (glass engravings, greeting cards and handmade jewellery) and though I only had a few customers it was worth it. Also an opportunity to support the local community. My daughter wanted to join in and made a few seasonal bookmarks and friendship bands for the stall, I love how she enjoys crafting as much as I do. I have also now updated the greetings card section of the site, to show some of the cards I've made in the last few years, with links for each occasion. I always have cards in stock if you want one for a birthday or another reason and can take commissions to design a card specially for your loved one.
I realise I've not updated my site for a while, I had a nasty insect bite in the leg over the summer which landed me in hospital with cellulitis. The hospital staff at Watford General were fantastic, in all the wards that I spent time in, and I was lucky to get out after only a few days of continuous IV drip, though I then had a severe allergic reaction to the new medication and had to spend a few months resting my leg (not making running the local Scouts and Beavers easy) and it's still looking swollen and discolored 4 months later.
I have been making cards for all occasions for a long time but have only really advertised them for sale at a few craft fairs in the past. I've now taken the step and added a section for my cards to this website, please feel free to let me know what you think of them and contact me if you want any design or something slightly different for a loved one or special occasion. I am frequently making cards, for friends, family and a local charity for the elderly and will try to add pictures of my recent designs to the site regularly. I've had a busy month, mainly with restarting face-to-face meetings for our local Beavers section as I've been meeting with them on Zoom since Christmas and we had our first outdoor session of the year on the Beavers 35th birthday, 1st April (no joking).
I've also been busy with engravings for various people and cards for friends and family. One commission I particularly enjoyed was a family crest onto a decanter for the client's father's 70th. Some of the cards I've made recently, for birthdays, anniversaries and a new flat. I love the Spring floral theme I was able to include in all of these.
To brighten up these cold winter days I've been working on making Spring themed and colorful cards. I'm leaving a lot of them without sentiments so one can be added to suit the occasion / recipient when the card is used. Please contact me if you are interested in purchasing any design.
